ABSTRACT

Developing countries, including a number of Arab countries, face significant challenges in their daily survival requirements, not to mention the needs of progress, which can only be achieved by ensuring survival first. Budgets, which are the vital artery for funding institutions and stimulating daily work and activities, including education, appear empty, leading to the passage of fiscal years without an official budget announcement, or worse, to borrowing and imposing additional local taxes.

The key to reform and constructive strategic change is to turn to education for innovation in the areas of human preparation and development: the foundation of health, administration, society, the economy, national sovereignty, status, and international relations. This will enable, over the course of a few generations, stereotypical images of backwardness to be turned upside down.

However, developing education systems are currently suffering from field crises that limit their progress. These include: the sagging of administrative structures due to their enormous responsibilities towards many schools overcrowded with excessive numbers of students; the decline in financial commitments to education from central authorities; the high student-to-teacher ratio; the declining ratio of administrators to teachers; the worsening problems of chronic school facilities and equipment—rented, cramped, dilapidated, or unsanitary; and, most importantly, the low professional competence of teachers in terms of knowledge, skills, inclinations, and sense of belonging to the youth, the school, and society.

Hence, this educational effort, and others undertaken over the past forty years, has contributed to the renewal of the educational process by integrating information and communication technology, knowledge, and contemporary methods into the mechanisms of school work.

The book is 213 pages long, divided into four chapters, covering the latest methods used in contemporary education worldwide. These include:

1. Educational assessment of students using portfolios

2. Educational assessment of students using classroom methods

3. Multi-level educational assessment of achievement – rubric

4. Educational assessment of online learning
